Description
You unleash a ray of necromantic energy that sears the soul of one creature you can see within range. The target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 2d6 necrotic damage and has disadvantage on its next saving throw against being frightened or charmed before the spell ends. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage and suffers no additional effects. Until the spell ends, you can use your action on subsequent turns to maintain the ray, forcing the target to repeat the saving throw, ending the spell on a successful save. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the necrotic damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 2nd.
